The memory wall

Hey you guys!

So for a few years now i’ve been mindlessly piling up old photos and radnom business cards on my wall and i have to say… it’s turned out quite big.

You name it, it’s on there. Old baby photos, origami, bottle lids, kinder egg surprises, letters, random business cards… you get the picture

Decorating my room has become a habit for me recently, i have posters, cameras, art, all kinds of random things that you wouldn’t find in a bedroom normally. The most recent addition has been fairy lights. I’ve always wanted to create a relaxing space in my room, like so-

I think i’m close to a nice cosy place to relax, just in time for my GCSE’s 🙂

I hope you’re all enjoying December, i’ve just about got all my shopping done! Todays YouTube video is Zoella, last year she uploaded an awesome video of her festive room, it was an inspiration for me to decorate my room! Check it out here!

Also, i did a little room tour/christmas tree decorating on my YouTube channel here if you would like to check it out! I’d love it if you did!

Thank you and goodbye my fellow foxes!

Magical rainbow adventure

The magical rainbow adventure, you’ve probably heard and maybe created yourself, a melted crayon picture.

PJ Liguori, a YouTuber (since I’ve been gone I have developed an obsession over YouTube, I’ll explain further later on) made a video, quite some time ago, and it was how to make a Magical Rainbow Adventure. I’ve been meaning to do it for quite some and i thoroughly enjoyed it-

It’s pretty awesome, if you want to get creative with some crayons, here’s the video to find out how!

Spooky cupcakes!

A holiday mostly celebrated in America, but was originally created in Germany, yup, go tell all your friends!

Okay so I had to do something special for Halloween right? So I decided to go a bit YouTube crazy and show you Zoella’s take on Halloween cupcakes, it took me a while (i don’t know why) but, here is my result!

Tin Can Lanterns

Every year I go camping with a few family friends and of course my dog, Duke. I was surfing through Pinterest and came accross these tin can lanterns! They are perfect for the tent and camper, I’ll also be making some cute bunting to brighten up the campsite 🙂

Oreo cupcakes

Everybody loves an Oreo, right? There are soo many things you can do with them, smoothies, cake, even Cadburys has released their own Oreo edition chocolate! Well here’s how to make Oreo cupcakes! A simple and easy method that takes under an hour!

12 Oreo biscuits
115g/4 oz soft brown sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
2 large eggs
175g/6 oz self raising flour
1 tsp baking powder
4 tbsp milk
For the biscuit cupcakes, preheat the oven to 180’C /fan 160’C/350’F/gas mark 4.

Line the muffin run with 12 muffin cases and warm up the Oreos. Twist them apart and face cream side up in the cases. Crush the rest

Put the butter, sugar and vanilla into a bowl and whisk until fluffy, then whisk in the eggs. Sift the flour and baking powder, fold in and stir in the crushed biscuits and milk.

Spoon in the cases, bake for 29 minutes until firm and then cool on a wire rack, now you have… Oreo cupcakes!!

The 20 minute tote bag

Heya guys!

Sorry for the lack of posts! I have lots of ideas but hardly any time to write them out! i’ve had lots of (boring) revision and homework recently (YAWN)

I’m currently writing out a monstrous post on my phone which should be released this week!

In the mean time, enjoy this 20 minute tote bag, a Mollie Makes tutorial which i love!

The Fox Cake

Hey guys!

Yes, its the big post and its about…. My fox cake!

In Food Tech (In school) we were told to bake a cake. we could choose any cake we wanted so i, as you do, chose the fox cake! I wasn’t 100% about what it would look like, at first i was thinking of more of a triangular shape but then settled on cheekbones… you’ll see what i mean!

I cute out templates using baking paper so i could shape the cake and the icing, base your cut outs on the picture.

Heres the recipe i made for school-

225g/8oz butter or margarine, softened at room temperature

225g/8oz caster sugar

4 medium eggs

2 tsp vanilla extract

225g/8oz self raising flour

milk, to loosen

Orange food colour

  1. Preheat the oven to 180C/350F/Gas 4
  2. Grease and line 2 x 18cm/7in cake tins with baking paper.
  3. Cream the butter and the sugar together in a bowl until pale and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the eggs, a little at a time, and stir in the vanilla extract and food colouring.

5. Fold in the flour using a large metal spoon, adding a little extra milk if necessary, to create a batter with a soft dropping consistency.

5. Divide the mixture between the cake tins and gently spread out with a spatula

6. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden-brown on top and a skewer inserted into the middle comes out clean.

7. Remove from the oven and set aside for 5 minutes, then remove from the tin and peel off the paper. Place onto a wire rack.

8. When cooled, carefully, cute the top off of each cake and stick together using butter cream, now shape it into the fox shape!

9. Round it off and make sure it is level

And for the decoration-

To make the buttercream-

140g/5oz butter, softened

280g/10oz icing sugar

1-2 tbsp milk

Orange food dye

Also- White&Black icing

  1. Beat the butter in a large bowl until soft. Add half of the icing sugar and beat until smooth.
  2. Add the remaining icing sugar, food dye and one tablespoon of the milk and beat the mixture until creamy and smooth.
  3. Beat in the milk, if necessary, to loosen the mixture.
  4. Spread onto cake and then spread jam onto nose piece
  5. Carefully place it onto the end of the fox, rounding off where necessary
  6. Roll out the white icing until thin
  7. Place the baking paper on top of the icing and cut around
  8. Place onto cake and make eyes and nose with black icing

Heres my result-

That Urban Fox Nails

From my last post about nails, you will probably realise that I am not the best at painting nails… But I gave this one a go! I didn’t have any cocktail sticks so had to make do with the brush.

If you’re interested in glaming up your nails then I highly recommend you don’t use the cheap stuff! I used a nail varnish from Primark for the background and it was so difficult as it just never seems to set properly! I recommend-
No 7
… The list goes on!
Experiment with lots of different nail varnishes until you find the one that suits you.

You need-
3 different nail varnishes
Cocktail stick
Hair dryer (to dry)

1. Do the background colour, maybe a couple of coats to get a bold look.

2. Use the hair dryer to dry them, make sure you’re on the coldest option and start thinking about what you’re going to write on your nails, it could be your name, or it could be an animal! I chose That Urban Fox because… Well I’m sure that’s obvious!

3. Dip the cocktail stick into the nail varnish and start to write onto your nails, regularly dipping it in so it’s visible.

4. Use the hair dryer to dry it and start on the other hand!

Enjoy! Send me in your pics when you’re finished 🙂

Look out for my post about experimenting with nail varnishes to find the best one!
